Hi Matt,

I assume you live in the US as that is where these marks originate. They are pseudo hallmarks imitating English hallmarks and were used in the New York area to mark solid ″coin″ silver during early to mid 1800′s.

There doesn′t appear to be a makers name or set of initials as would be expected. Have you found any other marks?

Cheers,
Steve

The only thing markings wise is a inscription that says ″C.F. CORDES″ and the initials ″LC″ above that

I assume then that the C F Cordes is a previous owner...possibly the original owner and perhaps the LC is later family member. I′m unable to find any makers names that are either Cordes or intitials LC who used the trio of marks on your piece. The following New York silversmiths are known to have used the Anchor, Star, Duty Head trio:

Colin Forbes,
George Howe
Maltby Pelletreau,

but there are likely numerous others, and some may be known to US specialist hallmark researchers. So all I′m able to tell you is that your piece is likley solid silver of 900(coin) grade and made in the New York area somewhere between circa 1820 to 1860 based on the marks.

Cheers,
Steve
