Scammed by an antique dealer - h.cx - Hallmarks Forum
Today I bought two items. One was an ″Antique, Persian silver chalice″, the other an ″Silver Sugar Shaker from 1822.″
Of course I was curious and started studying the ″chalice″ when I came home. It IS Sterling Silver, but it′s certainly not Persian nor antique, as it has a very large stamp inside that reads ″ST 953 ISRAEL″, which obviously I was too dumb to check inside the store. It′s a Kiddush. This makes me think the other silver object is some kind of ″fake″ too. It has an engraving that reads KA1499 and try as I might, I can′t find anything on that, so it might not even be silver, either. It also has a mark on its side, which I′ve tried my best at taking a picture of. I can′t tell if the mark has been rubbed off or it was like that from the start.

The marks in your picture could be a British hallmark. The accuracy of the dealer′s dating suggests that he/she probably thought so too. However your picture is not good enough to derive any information from it. Try taking another picture, in daylight and without flash, using your camera′s macro setting or through a hand lens. It would also be useful to see a picture of the whole piece and of the other mark which you mention.
