Hello !
These hallmarks are found on a small crucifix that i was told is from the 18th century, probably from Naples (Italy)

The head looks like the Italian hallmarks after 1872, but the head is looking in the wrong direction and the number 8 was not part of hallmarks I know.

Austrian marks also had a head, here the hear profile is correct, but the outer shape and number 8 do not correspond to known Austrian marks.

There is also a ″D S″ mark in a different spot from the other mark.

Any suggestion ? Country of origin ? Time placement ?

Thank you ! Regards

Andrea

The identification is correct for Naples. The profile of the woman is that of Parthenope and the letter N stands for ′Nostrale′ which means domestic, meaning the item was made in Naples. Imported items had the letter E for ′Estero′ meaning foreign. The numeral 8 represents the silver fineness of 834/1000. The maker mark of D S is unknown to me.
