Italian silver ″LP″ or ″CP″ Monstrance symbol - h.cx - Hallmarks Forum
Hello
I am trying to identify a mark on a very small silver snuff spoon. The person who sold it to me is based in the USA and described it as a Continental 900 assay mark from about 1850.
It does not appear to be either English or French, but may be Italian. The head with a ′3′ could be the .800 fineness mark used in Italy from 1872 to 1933.
I cannot seem to find any published guide to Italian makers′ marks, so the rather elaborate Monstrance symbol and ″LP″ (or possible (CP) remain a mystery
